On Tuesday, June 25, 2024, voters in New York State's Republican Primary Election for Assembly District 147 turned out to support David DiPietro in an overwhelming victory. Mitch Martin, DiPietro's opponent, was shown exactly what constituents in the district think of him, which is that they do not think of him. Evidence of this can be found in the poll percentages; Martin receiving only 18% of the ballots versus DiPietro's shattering 82% record win. End scene. Exit stage.
Despite the tumult of this campaign, with multiple attacks on DiPietro's character and competency, constituents in the 147th remained unswayed. Many know DiPietro personally due to his determined advocacy for them in Albany and his unwavering involvement in the towns he represents. They did not drink the Kool-Aid, hot June weather withstanding.
Moving forward, DiPietro stated, "I cannot tell you how humbled I am. Never did I think these numbers would be real! We had one of the best teams in the state. My staff is incredible and no one works harder!
The volunteers...I would love to hug everyone of them. There are so many. I have so much gratitude towards everyone that I don't even know where to begin!
From the bottom of my heart, I want to say thank you to everyone. I will continue to try and make you proud of me as I work harder than ever to represent all of you. God bless each and every one of you!"
This election comes on the heels of Albany's last legislative session for 2024. Assemblyman DiPietro will be attending events this summer and hosting this fall. Continuing to educate voters on the truth of politics in New York and speak with them on local concerns is a high priority.
